About Tamsen Staniford, L.Ac.
I have be
en interested in health and wellness since I was a little girl. I learned early on that we need to take charge of our own health. Despite all of their wonderful achievements and capabilities, science and modern medicine have limits and doctors do not have all the answers. Likewise, Traditional Medicines have their limitations. For these reasons, I believe that integrating the best of the allopathic and holistic medical worlds is key to comprehensive health care; and that each of us must ensure we get the best care possible.
Supplements and nutrition have been my passion for nearly a decade and I incorporate both into my holistic health practice. I received my graduate degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, California and am licensed to practice Acupuncture in the state of California. Additionally, I received over 800 hours of bodywork and health education training at the National Holistic Institute in the SF Bay Area and I am a level 1 Reiki practitioner.
The style of acupuncture I practice is Meridian Therapy, a style developed in Japan, in the traditions of Ikeda Masakazu Sensei and Shuddo Denmei Sensei. During my acupuncture training I completed three rotations at the San Diego Hospice and the Institute for Palliative Medicine’s Inpatient Care Center. I also completed a project with Quan Yin Healing Arts Center providing community acupuncture to supportive housing residences here in San Francisco in 2008. I currently practice in San Francisco. I continue to study Traditional Medicine, Japanese language and, soon, nursing.
You will find me enjoying days off hiking around Mt. Tam with my family, visiting Baker Beach, reading and watching science fiction, or enjoying my back yard.
